The Before Reading activity provides scaffolding for the comprehension skill using familiar content and scenarios. The three-part vocabulary cards allow students to interact with the vocabulary in a variety of ways.
The After Reading activity mimics the structure of the Before Reading activity and language of the comprehension skill so that students are familiar with the language patterns and need only use those patterns with new rigorous content.
Also available separately is an interactive notebook that follows the framework of this unit.
