Roll and Spin Math Games to Develop Number Sense with Multi-Digit Addition & Subtraction
These Roll and Spin Math Games focus on developing number sense for two-digit and three-digit addition. The activities help students develop competencies by using a number line and other place value strategies when adding two-digit and three-digit numbers.

I use these math games as a precursor to teaching three-digit addition and subtraction or to build fluency with two-digit addition. They help my more fragile students become proficient with using a number line.
What’s Included in the Roll and Spin Math Games
There are five math games included in this resource with multiple, differentiated versions of each section.

10 & 100 More & Fewer
While 10 and 100 more and fewer is technically a first-grade standard, I find that many students need a refresher in second grade.
This fun activity has several versions that you see below.

Students roll, create a two-digit number, then spin to find out whether they are adding or subtracting 10 or 100.

The spinner that you see above is on the Classroom Spinner website.. To use it, students put a pencil eraser in the slot, flick the spinner and wait until it stops.
The spinner is available on the Classroom Spinner website.

Number Line Jumps
There are several versions of the number line jumps and they come in both addition and subtraction pages.

Addition (+10, +100, & mixed)
Addition number lines start with an arrow on the left. Students roll a two or three-digit number, then make jumps of 10 or 100.

Subtraction (-100)
Also included are subtraction number line jumps where students start on the right hand side. The procedure is the same. Students roll, create a two or three-digit number, then subtract 10 or 100.

Find a Pattern (+ / – 10)
Find a Patter has students create a two or three-digit number, place it in the center and then add and subtraction 10 or 100. The questions at the bottom help solidify the concept and ask about place value changes.

What others are saying
Here is some feedback from buyers about this resource and a few ways you may be able to use it in your classroom.
Buyer:
If you don’t follow Jessica’s blog and email newsletter, I highly recommend it. I am currently in a long-term subbing position in a resource classroom. The strategies I have learned for teaching math have helped
tremendousley . When I saw in a recent email her “friendly number” game I knew I had to try it to help deepen my students understanding of addition and the relation of numbers on a line. My students loved using the dice to find numbers and they picked up the strategy easily and were even able to relate it to what they do on theiready computer program (exactly what I wanted!!) I also think these games will be awesome to keep in my extra sub plans for the future.

Love the graphics, clear directions, little prep
time , and fun games. I use this as a class reinforcement game and as our “Math Game of the Week” that goes home for kids to play with parents.

When are you going to have more classroom spinners?
Are you asking for more games with spinners or the for the spinners themselves? I don’t sell the physical spinner. The link for it is above.
I assumed the spinners were from you, and that they were included with the games, sorry. Thank you for your response.
