St. Patrick’s Day is a fun time for leprechauns, rainbows, and all things green, but it’s also a great opportunity to help students reflect on what makes them feel lucky.
While luck is often thought of as finding a four-leaf clover or winning a prize, it can also mean appreciating the good things in life—family, friends, experiences, and everyday joys.

How to Brainstorm With Students
Before beginning the craft, take time to brainstorm ideas with your class. A simple “Turn and Talk” activity can get students thinking about what makes them feel lucky.
Ask students to share with a partner something in their life that makes them happy or thankful. After a minute or two of discussion, invite students to share responses with the whole class.
Another effective method is using a class anchor chart. Write “I Am Lucky Because…” at the top and encourage students to suggest reasons.
Group their responses into categories like family, school, nature, and experiences to help them see how many different ways they are lucky.
You can also provide sentence starters like, “I am lucky because I have…” or “I feel lucky when…” to help younger students get started.

As students create their “I Am Lucky” craft, they get to express their gratitude in a visual and creative way. Whether they decorate a shamrock, pot of gold, or rainbow with their lucky reasons, the final product is a heartwarming reminder of the good things in their lives.
