Listening Center October & Halloween Stories for Kids on YouTube Using QR Codes

My students love to listen to stories. There’s only one of me, 20+ of them, and not enough time in the day to read all of the October stories and Halloween stories they want to read! So I created a solution where they can listen to Halloween stories online via QR codes. These 58 Halloween and October QR codes are the perfect tool for your primary classroom listening centers.

Why use QR Codes in Your Listening Centers?

QR codes are a fantastic addition to your listening centers because they provide easy access to a wide variety of October and Halloween stories for kids. With limited time and resources, teachers can use these QR codes to allow students to independently listen to stories of their choice. This not only enhances their listening skills but also fosters a love for reading and storytelling. Plus, QR codes are fun and engaging for students, making the learning experience even more enjoyable.

What is included in the October Stories Listening Center QR COde Resource?

Included in this Halloween QR Code resource are 58 Halloween and October QR codes that feature common Halloween stories read aloud. There are two sets of videos, one set goes to YouTube. The other set goes to VideoLink, which removes the ads and sidebar from the videos.

You’ll want to be sure that you can access YouTube at your school site!

How to use the Halloween QR Codes in Your Classroom

I like to display the QR codes on a wall so that all students in the classroom can easily walk over and scan the code. Students generally get up a couple of times during their listening center to scan the codes. This gives students an opportunity to move around just a little bit but also gives them a purpose to move.

Another way teachers have used these QR codes is by hole-punching them and putting them on a ring. Provide devices and a ring of QR codes for students to flip through. This keeps students in their seats during the entire listening time period.
