Cut and Paste Math Worksheets for 3rd Grade (All Standards)

Cut-and-paste math worksheets for 3rd grade give students hands-on practice with almost every math standard, going beyond what a traditional worksheet can provide.

These cut-and-paste worksheets are very similar to my Second Grade Cut & Paste Math Activities, but for third grade. 

What’s Included in the Cut & Paste Third Grade Math Activities?

The resource includes two pages for most standards.  Some have three pages, and not all substandards are included.  There are 66 pages of activities to choose from.

Each page approaches the standard in a slightly different, but related way. Each page specifically focuses on one standard through a variety of cut-and-paste activities, short-answer problems, and written answers.  Answer keys are included!

The cut-and-paste component gives students an opportunity to check their work.  I love this aspect of the pages!  Students have immediate feedback based on the available answers.

The explanation then gives you an opportunity to see their thinking.  It requires students to explain the math that they did in their heads.

There is usually a cut-and-paste component and a written component for each page.  For some of the math activities, there is just one or the other.  Some of the pages are not cut and pasted because a cut-and-paste activity wasn’t appropriate for that particular standard.  I couldn’t reach the depth of thinking necessary to meet the standard’s expectations.  My goal was to help students solidify their understanding of a specific mathematical concept.  Oh, and have fun, too.  That’s important!

These Cut & Paste Third Grade Math Activities are meant to be used after the content has been taught.  The worksheets assume students have some understanding of the concepts.  I want to emphasize that aspect of the resource.  Teach the concept and skill first, then use them for additional practice.

How to use the Cut & Paste Third Grade Math Activities

I used the second-grade version with my class and had students complete it during their math stations or during whole-group math time.  These activities were perfect to give to a substitute teacher as well.  Since we had already done a few pages, any substitute teacher could give minimal instructions, and students knew what to do.

I always used these cut-and-paste activities after I had taught the content and students needed some extra practice, or when I needed something quick to plan.  I did not use them if students did not have a decent grasp on the concepts.

You could even glue these into an interactive notebook or send them home for homework.  There are many different ways to use these activities in the classroom to engage students.

Equivalent Fractions

Below are two examples of the equivalent fraction pages.

Equivalent Fractions on a Number Line

This Fractions on a Number Line sheet is one of my favorite pages!  It requires students to arrange fractions on a number line and then use that number line to write in equivalent fractions below it.

This takes quite a bit of thinking power and students need some good strategy and mathematical reasoning skills to determine the equivalent fractions.

Equivalent Fraction Pictures

Before we start our work comparing fractions on a number line, we look at and work with visual models of fractions.  In this cut-and-paste worksheet, students are presented with one picture of a fraction and need to find a matching picture.  Students then reflect on their learning by answering the question below.

Multiplication and Division Cut & Paste Third Grade Math Activities

This activity presents students with multiplication and division equations that have a missing component.  The equations have the equal sign on different sides, and the missing number appears in various places.

While there are a lot of pieces, teaching students to cut out only the pieces needed for a given problem helps reduce lost pieces.  When students lose a piece, I have them write in the answers. In my second-grade classroom, I had one student who always lost his pieces.  I just made sure we had a good strategy in place to meet his needs.

Division and Fair Sharing

This activity presents a division word problem and asks students to draw their work.  The cut and paste component is the answer.  Students are also asked to write a reflection about the problems.

Rounding

In this activity, students fill in a sentence frame to identify the nearest tens and hundreds when rounding.  The cut and paste components are the words “up” and “down” to finish the sentence frame.

Find the Area by Tiling

This is an example of a measurement activity where students find the area by tiling squares and write a multiplication equation. The cut and paste components are small squares.

These worksheets provide students with an opportunity to manipulate cut out cards in a quick and easy way.  These worksheets are very convenient and easy to copy when you need a quick activity to supplement your instruction.  Other than getting glue and scissors, they are no-prep!

A Google Slides version is included with the resource for all three sets (OA, NBT & NF, and MD & G). Students can complete the activities digitally, which works well for classrooms using Chromebooks or tablets alongside the print version.
