Question 1

Can I buy a single set of the picture stretch a sentence worksheets instead of the bundle?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Picture Stretch a Sentence: Write About It is sold by the month, so you can buy one monthly set on its own without the bundle. The bundle is only there for teachers who want the full year at a discount.

Question 2

What is the difference between Sentence Strands and Stretch a Sentence?

Accepted Answer

Stretch a Sentence teaches one skill, growing a short sentence with detail. Sentence Strands is a yearlong program built around themed fiction or nonfiction passages that includes stretching plus sentence combining and fixing run-ons. Pick Stretch a Sentence for a focused routine and Sentence Strands for a full-year, do-it-all resource.

Question 3

What is the difference between Sketch a Sentence and Picture Stretch a Sentence?

Accepted Answer

In Sketch a Sentence, students draw their own picture first, then write and grow a sentence about it, which suits K-2. In Picture Stretch a Sentence, students write about a photo that is provided for them, so there is no drawing step, and it works through the older grades.

Question 4

My students struggled with the original stretch a sentence worksheets. What should I try?

Accepted Answer

Try the picture versions. The original routine uses text-only sentences, which can feel abstract for some students. Picture Stretch a Sentence and Sketch a Sentence give students an image to describe, which makes it much clearer what detail to add.
