This Lemur Informational Article and Comprehension Activities includes an article about lemurs in two formats (two-page color photos & one-page text), website resources for online articles and videos about the lemur, a fact sort sheet where students can sort facts about the lemur, a variety of note-taking sheets, comprehension activities, and mini-report pages.
Use these articles as a resource when researching and writing about animals. Read the article, look at a variety of web sites, and watch a couple of videos to gather all our facts about the animal. Once students have the facts, sort the facts into categories and then write a research report.
This article works well with my Informational Writing Tools packet that scaffolds expository or informational writing about animals from researching facts to writing paragraphs.

My students picked their own animals to research. I have books about animals, but many of them are difficult for my second graders to read. I could have them research online, but that proved to be simply too broad and confusing. I came across these articles and they are just what the doctor ordered. Organized, easy enough to read (but not TOO easy). I love how in the future if I taught older grades I could utilize the graphic organizers as literacy centers. Really great product. Well worth my money.

I used this in the spring during out informational unit. Excellent source. Students used it to help with research within their group when writing their animal report. I couldn't get the QR codes to work on our Chromebooks, but was able to post the links on Google Classroom.
