Short Vowel CVC Words Blending Cards

Looking to help your students learning to read using phonics skills like blending and segmenting? These Blending Cards encourage students segment, blend, and read words in a variety of phonics patterns.

Blending Cards for Short Vowel CVC words include CVC words common for Kindergarten reading. The cards can be used for RtI for first grade. This resource includes over 192 VC, CVC, and CVCC words.

Each card is designed:

1. With large dots to segment the sounds

2. With dotted lines to blend the sounds

3. With a large arrow to “read it fast”

The large dots indicate where students practice each letter’s sound. The dotted lines indicate which sounds are continuous sounds and which are stop sounds. Continuous sounds have dotted lines before and after the sound to show that it continues. Stop sounds stop at the letter.

The arrow encourages students to say the word fast, blending all the sounds together as one.

While the cards are created full page for whole group learning, they can be printed four to a page for small groups or individual learning. The cards are low ink and all black and white for easy printing.
