Word Family Wheel and Making Words Wheels – Short Vowels and Final Blends/Digraphs

These Word Family Wheel & Making Words Wheels give students an opportunity to explore a variety of short vowel word combinations. There are basic short vowel cvc words, blends, and digraphs.

Each wheel is 8 inches in diameter and created with Century Gothic font. The Word Family Wheels have 8 words on them. The Make Word Wheels have 8 onset and 8 rimes, for a variety of real and nonsense words.

I created these wheels for use with my second graders reading below grade level, so I included quite a few blends in the onset portion. If you would like wheels with different letter combinations, please let me know.

Print on cardstock. Either print one per page or two per page to make them half the size (4-inch wheels). I print them two per page for my second graders. To print two per page, go to layout and select “2”.
