I really like the resources provided in this unit, I just wish there was a plan included of what to teach day by day. I am sorting through all the pages, reading your blog posts, and trying to figure out the order that I should teach them to my students. Is there something you've created that plans the lessons out and I'm just missing it? I would feel much more organized if everything was in one place. For example, on the "Instructional Suggestions" page, there is a Lesson 1, 2, and 3. Lesson 2 uses pages that come later on in the pages I printed, so I felt like I really had to search to figure out what to use. Lesson 3 requires students to use a checklist, but I don't feel like I can have them evaluate good writing when I haven't taught them what makes a good introduction, etc.

Great question! This post is how I taught State an Opinion: https://whatihavelearnedteaching.com/teach-state-an-opinion/. I repeated this process each week focusing on one more component. In second grade we focused on state an opinion, supply reasons, and include an introduction and conclusion. That was the order I taught the components. I also adjusted the lessons each year, based on where students needed the most support. As for the checklist, we only use the part of the checklist (if we use one) for the components that have been taught. So if you haven't taught them about introductions, we don't evaluate it. Thanks for the feedback about a plan. I'll take a look at adding those during the next revision.
