Fluency strips for students who need a little extra practice reading certain types of words. They are not a first introduction to the concept being reviewed (contractions, past tense verbs, etc).
I created them for my English learners who need a little extra practice reading these types of words quickly.
Students can choose (or be assigned) a set of strips that they need to practice and review them for a couple minutes each day to build fluency.
The package includes fluency strips for:
• Contractions: will, is, not, are, did, have
• Regular past tense verbs sorted by ending sound: /id/, /d/, & /t/
• Irregular past tense verbs with their present tense counterpart
• Plural words with -es
• Phrasal Verbs
• Past Participles (have, has, had)
I will continue to add to the package as I see the need arise in my own classroom. If you have a need for a certain group of words, please let me know. I’d be happy to add to the package.

These are a great idea. So many kids struggle with reading contractions; simple quick review.
